Design and Simulation of Waveguide Bragg Grating based Temperature Sensor in COMSOL

Abstract With the advancements in domain of photonics and optical sensors, Fibre Bragg Grating (FBG) owing to their increased advantages, have been researched widely proved be useful sensing applications. Moreover, advent Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) demands incorporation waveguides, which can integrated on silicon photonic chips. In this paper, design a sub-micron range Waveguide (WBG) based temperature sensor with high peak reflectivity thermal sensitivity is proposed. The flexibility COMSOL Multiphysics software explored simulate results are verified analytical values calculated using MATLAB. simulation carried out for proposed having 16000 gratings corresponding 0.953 obtained. A 80 pm/K achieved, approximately eight times better than that FBG sensor.
